Hi there!
I’m Melissa Bergman, a Texas-born artist with paint on my hands and joy in my heart. Whether you found your way here through my art, a gallery show, or a friend’s recommendation (thank you, friend!), I’m so glad you’re here. I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself—not just the brush-and-canvas version, but the real me.

From Sunflowers to Sketchpads
Let’s rewind a bit. While I’ve always had an itch to create, I didn’t officially lean into the title “artist” until around age 54. Crazy, right? But looking back, art was quietly threaded through every chapter of my life—from landscape and home design to endlessly doodling and soaking in the beauty around me.
I like to say I was born to play with paint. It wasn’t until later in life that I realized art wasn’t just a hobby—it was part of my soul’s rhythm.

Where I’m From (and Where I Paint)
I’m a West Texas gal at heart. These days, I split my time between Midland, Horseshoe Bay, and Alto, New Mexico, constantly inspired by the desert skies, blooming flora, quirky wildlife, and those magical Texas sunsets that just beg to be captured on canvas.
My Style in a Nutshell
My art is rooted in realism, but I’m not afraid to throw in a twist—like a pig lounging in a wine glass (yes, that happened). I’m obsessed with cactus, blooms, birds, and the occasional whimsical critter. My go-to mediums are acrylics, watercolors, and inks, depending on the size, mood, and travel-friendliness of my supplies (watercolor always wins when I’m on the go!).

The Process? A Bit of Magic and a Lot of Photos
Creating for me usually starts with a spark—something I see in nature, a shape, a shadow, a moment that feels too good to let slip by. I’ll snap 20+ photos of the same flower from different angles and pull pieces from each to build something fresh, yet familiar. It's like visual patchwork with petals.
What I Hope You Feel
Above all, I want my art to bring you joy. Simple as that. Whether you’re walking past a cactus painting in your hallway or sipping coffee in front of one of my florals, I hope it brings a smile to your face and warmth to your space.
Some Fun Little Extras About Me:
I’m self-taught, unless you count my one high school art class senior year (shoutout to that teacher for planting a seed!).
I sold my first paintings to a dear friend in 2019… I painted ten landscapes so he could pick his favorite two. 😄
I’ve shown work at Art on the Llano Estacado in Lubbock, TX and with the Alto Lakes Arts Association in New Mexico.
I absolutely take commissions! It’s a collaborative and joyful process. I love helping bring your vision to life.
Outside of painting, I’m all about golf, red wine, travel, and spending time with my family (especially my 10-year-old grandson, who’s already an art buddy in the making).

A Note From the Heart
Art, for me, is a reflection of God’s glory—found in every sky, bloom, breeze, and bird. Knowing that I am a child of God and deeply loved inspires me daily, and I hope that same love and light is woven into every brushstroke you see.
Thanks for taking the time to get to know me a little better. Now that we’ve officially met, I hope you’ll stay a while—explore the collections, check out what’s new, or reach out if you want to chat about a commission.
Paintfully yours,
Melissa
